What I learned mowing the grass today:
I'm cutting the grass today, you know, limping along behind the mower and scanning the sky for tornadoes, because that's what we do in Nebraska, we cut grass and watch for tornadoes, and everything is just peachy. I get up to the front near the bell tower (because I live in an old church that has a bell tower) and all these beautiful purple swallows come out of the tower. They are magnificent, some of the most beautiful birds I have ever seen. And I'm watching these beautiful, graceful, swallows fly around, cutting the grass, and you know, watching for tornadoes, when I learned that swallows, beautiful as they are, WILL ATTACK YOU RELENTLESSLY. And not only that, they will attack you in a way that would impress the Japanese Imperial Navy. I mean, for the love of God, those little bastards are vicious, flying under the tree branches, one after another, and cutting away six inches from my face in a coordinated attack. None actually touched me but man they came close. What a show!
